Tugas Sofskill ketiga
In 776 B.C., the first Olympic Games were held at the foot of Mount Olympus to honor the Greeks’ chief god, Zeus. The warm climate for outdoor activities, the need for preparedness in war, and their lifestyle caused the Greeks to create competitive sports. Only the elite and military could participate at first, but later the games were open to all free Greek males who had no criminal record. The Greeks emphasized physical fitness and strength in their education of youth. Therefore, contest in running, jumping, discuss and javelin throwing, boxing, and horse and chariot racing were held in individual cities, and the winners competed every four years at Mount Olympus. Winners were greatly honored by having olive wreaths placed on their heads and having poems sung about their deeds. Originally these contests were held as games of friendship, and any wars in progress were halted to allow the games to take place. They also helped to strengthen bonds among competitors and the different cities represented.
                The Greeks attached so much importance to the games that they calculated time in four-year cycles called “Olympiads,” dating from 776 B.C. The contest coincided with religious festivities and constituted an all-out effort on the part of the participants to please the gods. Any who disobeyed the rules were dismissed and seriously punished. These athletes brought shame not only to themselves, but also to the cities they represented.

Batik Bekasi


BATIK BEKASI
Seperti yang kita ketahui  bahwa negara kita negara Indonesia mempunyai berbagai macam dan bentuk nilai-nilai sosial yang beraneka ragam sesuai dengan ciri khas masing-masing daerah. Kadang kita sebagai generasi penerus bangsa seakan terlena dan lupa tentang keberadaan nilai-nilai seni budaya di negara kita dan kadanga tidak memperhatikan hal tersebuut yang menyebabkan nilai budaya kita di klaim oleh negara-negara lain karena kita tidak bisa menjaga dan melestarikannya. Sebaiknya kita sebagai generasi penerus yang seharusnya menjaga warisan nilai-nilai kebudayaan itu.
Batik indonesia memiliki keanekaragaman motif dan corak khas yang menjadi identitas dari tiap daerah. Diamana motif dan corak khas dari tiap-tiap daerah tersebut memiliki keunikan dan nilai unsur budaya masing-masing. Sehingga jarang dietemukan adanya corak maupun motif batik yang sama antar daerah satu dengan daerah yang lainnya, begitupun dengan kota Bekasi. Bekasi memiliki motif dan corak khas yang menggambarkan ciri kultur masyarakat betawi yang ada ada di jawa barat. Batik dengan motif dan corak khas Bekasi ini dinamakan “TARAWANG”, keberadaan batik tarawang ini beradasarkan pada sejarah batik yang tercatat pada masa kolonial. Batik bekasi juga pernah di ikutsertakan dalam Pameran Batik Jawa, yang diadakan pada tahun 1892, di Amsterdam,Belanda. Dengan adanya batik ini menjadi identitas budaya bagi masyrakat Bekasi.
Pada sejarah barik indonesia yang pernah tercatat pada masa kolonial. Batik yang diberi nama “Tarawang”  pada tahun 1892 pernah diikutsertakan pada pameran batik jawa di amsterdam yang di bekasi diselengarakan oleh seniman pelukis Belanda di Amsterdam. Batik dibuat oleh penduduk etnis tionghoa, keluarga Tan-Tjeng_kwat. Pada tahun 1860 bersama dengan batik lain, batik tarawang (batik Tarum) telah di koleksi oleh Ny Vincen Hegen istri pelukis Raden Saleh. Pada Tahun 1931 seorang belanda ir PAL mooyen yang tinggal dibandung, pernah memimpin suatu pameran hindia belanda dan megoleksi batik karawang atau tarum. Koleksi batiknya berupa kain alas meja peribadatan yang dipakai agama Budha yang disebut Tok-Wi. Batik koleksi Mooyen inilah menjadi dasar pengembangan lanjut untuk produksi.
